Mr. Neal Miller has been an independent
computer consultant for over 20 years. After graduating from
Grinnell College, a small, highly-regarded liberal arts college in
1979, he worked for a number of large firms as a computer
programmer, writing a variety of business software applications
which ran on Mainframe, Mini, and Microcomputer platforms. He has
been hosting the Taming Technology show on the
Business Channel of
VoiceAmerica.com since January, 2006.
When the IBM PC became a significant force in business computing,
Neal struck out on his own in 1984. He was a founding partner in VSS,
a small consultancy based in Chicago, and in 1987 founded Miller
Systems, Inc., which has been providing project management, systems
architecture, system analysis, data warehousing, mentoring,
programming, quality control, documentation, and operator training
services since its founding.
He has a wealth of experience working with a variety of differing
client requirements, including Finance and Accounting, Human
Resources, Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Regulatory
Requirements, and more. His clients have ranged from “Fortunate-500”
corporations all the way down to mid-sized manufacturing firms, and
even one-man service organizations. The industries he has served
include Financial Services, Real Estate and Construction, Health
Care, Professional Services firms, including legal, accounting,
litigation consulting, and other IT Consultancies, and more. Over
his extensive career, he has enabled his clients to better use their
computer technology platforms, including Intel and Microsoft based
computing platforms (including mobile devices such as cell phones
and PDAs), IBM Mainframes, Macintosh, Unix and Linux, and older
minicomputer systems. This breadth of experience gives him the
background to provide a solid business perspective to his clients.
He enjoys helping his clients improve their business operations, by
providing the information necessary to improve profitability by
increasing sales and reducing expenses.
Neal has also served as a past president of the Chicago Chapter of
the Independent Computer Consultants Association, and is currently a
member with over 15 years of membership in that organization (see
www.icca.org). In his spare time, he is committed to his family, and
seeing his children grow and succeed in whatever challenges they
face in life. He is also an avid baseball, football and basketball
fan.
